Description

The Drive 30″ Transfer Board is best for patients with upper body strength who can pivot and scoot short distances (6-12 inches), such as those recovering from stroke, amputation, or with partial lower body paralysis. Unlike slings (for lifts) or slide sheets (for friction reduction), transfer boards require patient participation and no lifting equipment.

To use the Drive Medical transfer board safely, always have training, use a gait belt, and ensure surfaces are at similar heights.

Bed to Wheelchair Steps

Position wheelchair at a slight angle next to the bed, lock brakes, remove armrest/footrests. Sit patient on bed edge, lean them away, slide board (rough side down) under thigh/buttock with 1/3 under patient and rest bridging to wheelchair seat. Patient pushes with arms in short scoots while leaning opposite; caregiver guides hips via belt on count of three until seated, then lean away to remove board.
