The Handicare 4000 is our go-to curved stairlift for staircases that turn, spiral, or span multiple landings. Its twin-rail system can be bent tightly, so it follows sharp corners closely and can park around a bend at 90 or 180 degrees, leaving the staircase itself clear.
Every rail is custom fabricated from photo-based measurements of the actual staircase, and can be finished in light grey, black, or brown to sit quietly against the decor. The battery-powered rack-and-pinion drive charges at stations at the top and bottom of the run and keeps working through a power outage, covering travel up to 49 feet.
Riders choose from Simplicity, Style, and Smart seats, a Perch seat for a semi-standing position, or the outdoor seat — with a heavy-duty rail option raising capacity from 300 to 350 lb. Powered swivel, powered folding footrest, and a powered folding hinge remove the bending and turning that riders often find hardest.
An outdoor version with nickel-plated rails and stainless hardware brings the same custom fit to exterior curved steps in moderate climates. We photograph and measure the staircase on site, then have the rail fabricated to match before installation.
Additional Options
Power Footrest
No bending down u2014 the footrest folds and unfolds from the toggle switch.
Power Swivel
The seat turns at the top landing using the toggle, rather than the manual swivel handle.
Power Hinge
Keeps the bottom landing free of tripping hazards when a doorway sits at the base of the stairs.
Perch Seat
A raised, semi-standing seat for riders with knee or hip limitations.
5 Point Harness
Available for added security while riding the chair.
Parking
90- or 180-degree parking tucks the chair around the railing at the top, bottom or both landings.
